Obtaining an EORI number
Trade within the European Union has its own strict regulation and tracking. It is to control the movement of goods within the EU that European regulators introduced the concept of an EORI number.
EORI is an identification code that is individually assigned to each natural or legal person wishing to move or store goods in the EU. Such numbers are summarized in a single European database and are indicated in all customs declarations, invoices and other export/import documents. Without this code, the movement of goods to/from the EU is prohibited.
- movement of goods within the EU;
- importation of goods into the European Union;
- export of goods from the European Union;
- temporary storage of goods in the EU;
- transit movement of goods through the EU;
- movement of goods between Britain and Northern Ireland;
- movement of goods between Britain and the Channel Islands.
- For companies that are registered in the EU countries, the code is issued in the country of registration.
- For companies that are registered outside the EU, including for residents of Ukraine, the EORI code is issued in the country in which the first shipment of goods will take place.
- The procedure for obtaining an EORI varies from country to country.
- It is necessary to issue an EORI code at least a week before the planned transportation.
- EORI number is entered into the open database of economic operators and is subject to verification by the customs authorities.
- To confirm the execution of the code, an appropriate Certificate is issued.
- Only one EORI code can be assigned to a company.
Registration of this code allows companies and individual entrepreneurs to freely import and export goods to the European Union, use the green corridor, the online portal of customs traders to fill out customs declarations, and be transparent carriers in front of business partners.
